The intelligence Bureau the short name is IB is a civilian department of Pakistan. The supervisor of this department is the Priminister Of Pakistan. IB established in 1947 after the Indo Pak division. Before division Intelligence Bureau was the part of the British Raj's which was established by the British Army. The first IB office in Pakistan was in Karachi after independence. IB is the oldest intelligence community and the second one is MI of Pakistan. In the start, IB was the only source to check and balance in Pakistan.
Pakistan's Prime Minister is authorized to appoint the Director-General of IB, but the President of Pakistan only can confirm the appointment. Because this is a civilian Intelligence agency so its DG has been appointed by civilians (Police department); as well as retired military officials have also served as DG IB.
Intelligence Bureau's headquarter now situated in Islamabad, Pakistan and it works under the Federal Government of Pakistan.
